Parent Update- October 4th, 2017

Dear parents,

We are already in the second month of school and it’s really hard to believe how quickly the first month has passed. Looking forward, I wanted to update you on a few things happening in the near future.

  • Elm Street School will be hosting an orientation for volunteers next Thursday, October 10th. This will take place at 1:00 PM, in our library, and light snacks will be provided.  If you know of someone who would be interested in volunteering to work with our students, please pass on the information to them. All are welcome to attend and while do have some ideas of our own about how volunteers can support our school (reading with students, helping with school sports, after school activities/clubs or helping in our Greenhouse) we are open to ideas as well.

  • There have been some calls regarding our after school Cooking Club. Cooking club will begin next week, on October 10th. Due to the numbers of children signed up, we will need to split the group into a Group A and B.  For those students signed up, we will be sending up a schedule early next week. Only Group A will begin on October 10th.

  • Unfortunately, we have had one reported case of head lice. While, invariably, this is common in Elementary Schools, we are asking that parents talk with their children about sharing hats and articles of clothing. Should you ever require product to treat head lice, the school is happy to provide you with this. Please contact us if this is the case.

  • A reminder, if your child will not be attending school, please contact the office. We do our best to call out for students who are not in attendance, but we appreciate if parents call us, as this lightens the load in terms of calls that Mrs. Hanson has to make.

As always, please feel free to contact us if there are any further questions,

Best regards,

Mike Flieger
