Parent Update- October 19th, 2020

Dear families,

Thank you again for your ongoing support  We appreciate you calling in to excuse your children, and also the adjustments we know you are having to make to keep your children.  Please see details regarding Halloween celebrations at Elm Street School, as well as other updates:

Halloween

While we look forward to Halloween celebrations, due to precautions in place, this year, our Halloween will look a bit different.

Here are some details, but please feel free to contact regarding clarification.

  • On October 30th, students WILL be permitted to attend school all day in their costume. We ask that you DO NOT apply makeup to students(it serves as a distraction)  in the morning, but are free to send a mask. Also, as usual, please DO NOT send swords, guns or weapons as accessories.
  • Unfortunately, due to current precautions, families will not be able to send any treats to school this year, but classroom parties will happen.  Our School Council will be purchasing pre-wrapped candy, and making treat bags for each student.  All bags will be prepared prior, and quarantined for 3 days before being handed out, as per AHS guidelines
  • As we hae always invited parents into the school for our costume parade, we have had to make a few creative adjustments. This year, beginning at 2PM, hour students will parade around the interior of our school yard.   We are inviting parents to come and find parking or stand on the sidewalk as students have their parade.  At 2:23, if parents are present, students may be picked up in their designated area.  Parents are also invited to decorate their cars, honk, etc.

Cold Weather

With colder weather upon us, we wanted to update regarding some related information:

  • Whereas students may only open the doors at 8:15, we are asking that you time their arrival for as close to 8:15 as possible.
  • In the case that your child could benefit from a new winter coat, please reach out to Mrs. Hanson as we have many new coats that have been donated.
  • We are asking that you do your best to ensure that your students wear proper winter footwear to school. Again, should this provide hardship, please reach out as we have new sneakers to provide as well and may be able to support in the event that boots are required.
  •

Birth Certificates

We are updating student files. Birth certificates are required for all students. We are asking that if you have one that you have not provided, that you speak with Mrs. Hanson to make arrangements to have these on file.

Mrs. Hanson will also be following up by email with those who do not have documents on file.

As always, please do not hesitate to contact our main office at 403-536-3528.  You can also email administration directly at:
