School Supplies 2025/2026
At Elm Street, we have done our absolute best to keep our requested supplies to an absolute minimum cost. See the list of supplies at the bottom of the page.
School Supplies for 2025--2026
Kindergarten
- 1 package of 12 HB pencils
- 1 package of 4 whiteboard dry-erase markers (small if possible)
- 1 package of 12 coloured pencils
- 1 package of 8 wax crayons
- 1 white pencil eraser
- 2 black sharpie markers (fine tip)
- 1 pkg of 3 Elmer's Disappearing Purple glue sticks
- 1 reusable water bottle
- 1 backpack (full size is preferred)
- 1 pump bottle of hand sanitizer
- 1 Pair of Non-marking Indoor Shoes
- 1 Pair of Outdoor shoes
- A change of seasonal clothes in a plastic bag, just in case!
Please note: For your child's shoes, velcro and closed-toe styles are preferred, as these allow your child to independently dress themselves and access different activities in the gym and outside on the playground.
We recommend that all students have a backpack, lunch kit, indoor running shoes (they stay at school) and a water bottle. These items are not required to be purchased new every year. In addition, all students in grade 3 - 6 are required have their own Chromebook or equivalent device to support their learning in the classroom. Please speak with your child's teacher if you require assistance with this.

- 3 white pencil erasers
- 2 Clear Glue Sticks - Jumbo Size

- 1 Pencil Case
- 1 inch binder for French class
- Non marking indoor shoes

- All grade six students - Sketchbook required for Art
In order to support parents, Medicine Hat Public School has has subscribed to School Start where you are able to order school supplies online. School Start generously donates a percentage of the sales back to the school, which is amazing! Parents who order early are entered for a prize. This is only an option, and parents are still welcome to purchase school supplies from anywhere that they choose.
We do recommend a higher quality pencil, (HB, Staedtler brand) for your child to succeed. Dollar Store pencils can break easily and don't sharpen well which can contribute to student frustration.
While we appreciate those who are able to purchase school supplies, please know that we understand that this may not be possible for all families. In cases where this creates hardship, please contact the school and let us know and we will ensure that no child goes without those supplies that they require to be successful.
